Gooden
Dwight Gooden is widely considered to be among the greatest MLB Pitchers of all time. He made his MLB debut with the New York Mets in 1984 at the age of 19, quickly earning the National League Rookie of the Year Award and leading the league in strikeouts. In 1985, Gooden had one of the most remarkable seasons for a pitcher, securing the NL Cy Young Award and achieving the pitching Triple Crown with a 24–4 record, a 1.53 ERA, and 268 strikeouts.
Gooden played a pivotal role in the Mets' 1986 World Series championship team. Over his career, he was a four-time All-Star and also won a Silver Slugger Award in 1992. After his tenure with the Mets, he played for several teams, including the New York Yankees, with whom he pitched a no-hitter in 1996 and earned another World Series ring
Despite facing personal challenges off the field, Gooden's contributions to baseball were honored when the New York Mets retired his number 16 jersey on April 14, 2024.
During the ceremony at Citi Field, Gooden expressed his gratitude to the fans, acknowledging his past struggles and emphasizing his passion for life improvement and helping others do the same.

Jordan grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina, and entered the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1981. As a freshman, he made the winning basket against Georgetown in the 1982 national championship game. Jordan was named College Player of the Year in both his sophomore and junior years, leaving North Carolina after his junior year. He led the U.S. basketball team to Olympic gold medals in 1984 in Los Angeles and in 1992 in Barcelona, Spain. The players who competed in the latter Games became known as the Dream Team.

Messi started playing football as a boy and in 1995 joined the youth team of Newell’s Old Boys (a Rosario-based top-division football club). Messi’s phenomenal skills garnered the attention of prestigious clubs on both sides of the Atlantic. At age 13 Messi and his family relocated to Barcelona, and he began playing for FC Barcelona’s under-14 team. He scored 21 goals in 14 games for the junior team, and he quickly graduated through the higher-level teams until at age 16 he was given his informal debut with FC Barcelona in a friendly match.

Nadia Comaneci was born on November 12th, 1961 in Romania. From an early age, she showed obvious passion, ability and talent for the sport of gymnastics. As a child, Nadia practiced very hard at a gymnastics school, commuting back and forth to see her parents. Though this seems like a childhood most would not want, Nadia had a goal in mind: to make it to the Olympics. Finally this dream came true at the 1976 Olympics held in Montreal, Canada. At the young age of fourteen, she went into the biggest competition of her lifetime, though at that time she didn't know what an impact she would have on the world of gymnastics. During the team portion of the competition, Nadia Comaneci stunned the world and the judges with her routine on the uneven bars. The score came up as a 1.00 out of a perfect 10.00, but she really scored a perfect score.
